Hankerchief to bed quilt!

I'm having a sort through of all my vintage scraves and hankerchiefs today.

I have been collecting the hankies all year and wanted to make something out of them.

 

All so pretty and all so different,  from the Victorian era right through to the 1960's.

I've decided that I am going to stitch them together, crazy patchwork style and make either a duvet cover for the spring or a tablecloth for all those al fresco meals next summer.

I've seen this done with the blue and white stripy mens hankerchiefs and it looks fab!

It will depend how impatient I get - if patience runs out, it will be the tablecloth.

Until then, I shall carry on thrifting for them,
lovingly wash them, press them and squirell them away...
until I have enough of them to create something wonderful.

Kidstonesque???

Just finished my "Kidstonesque" Kindle cover today

Not one of her fabrics but, nevertheless a beautiful, floral 100% cotton,

padded inner and cream cotton lining.

Gorgeous Gloria was thrilled at how this one came out
and even Mr Harry Grimwood passed it in quality control!

After photographing it, I think it may need some button embellishment ...

Vintage Treasures!!!

Visited a car boot sale yesterday and picked up some truly beautiful pieces. I bought some items from a lady whose mother and father had both worked as lace makers in Nottingham... facinating stories... and it was nice to get a little history to the pieces that I bought from her.
I think my favourite find would have to be the stunning, delicate, golden coloured lace, that looks as though it was once part of either a Victorian wedding dress or christening robe.

Now I have to think of something to make from it that will show off its beauty...still thinking!!
