Hayfever bride - paper bouquet...

I've finished off the bridal bouquet for the bride with hay fever.

This forever bouquet flowers have been made with designer papers, card, buttons and beads in shades of purple.

 

 

Finished with a tightly bound ribbon handle and vintage brooch which is removable to be worn at future anniversary dinners etc.

Pink & Green Wedding Bunting...

Just finished this commission for Pink and green wedding bunting - has now been posted off to Wales, to Dee for her Top Table.

Made from all vintage linens, lace, buttons, beads etc

Burlesque Bride or Prom??

I'd just finished watching Moulon Rouge when I started to make this corsage - I love that film and all the gorgeous burlesque and bohemian clothing!

This corsage would be great for either an alternative groom or bridesmaid at a wedding and would look equally as gorgeous setting off a prom dress.
Made from a very realistic looking lily in deep pink against black feathers.
A spray of black beads, netting and glass beads finish it off.
This is a button hole corsage at the moment but i can add a brooch back or make it into a wrist corsage or hair clip if desired - please just message me.
Measures 27cms at longest point and 15cms at widest point.

Festive Button Wreath Tutorial

You will need:         Felt/Fabric scraps,  beads, buttons, florist wire, ribbon

Cut your scraps of felt into small pieces (about 1.5cms/  ½”) with pinking shears

Twist the end of the wire into a small hoop to stop the beads etc falling off,  and  thread the wire through felt pieces, buttons and beads, leaving about  5cms/ 2½” of bare wire.

 Put the bare wire through the hoop, twist to fasten and  hook over

Add   a pretty bow and hang!

I was going to conquer the world and then I saw something Sparkly!

I have always been distracted by sparkly items and I blame it all on my aunt. When I was at a young, impressionable age she would swan into our home with a blonde beehive 2 ft high, the latest boyfriend/husband!, mini skirt, long talon nails (always polished), two little Chiuauaus and ALWAYS had on sparkly diamonte jewellery. As a child I was transfixed by my glamorous aunt and the colours and shapes of her brooches and am sure that is why (even to this day) I cannot resist one if I see it at a fete, boot sale or antique/flea market!

I love to work with these "heirlooms", and hate to see a brooch discarded purely because it's pin is broken or it has lost a few stones. I have a kind of jewellery hospital in my spare room now, where I store them all away, until I find another, equally beautiful, but damaged piece and put the two together so that they can live on!

I like to "reinvent" pieces - I use necklaces and bracelets for headbands and tiaras and brooches for bridal bouquets and hair combs...

Tea, Cake & Crafts - my idea of heaven!

As discussed on a "Folksy" forum, I have decided to open up my home (in Sleaford Lincolnshire) for a day on March 22nd, for tea, cake and crafts.
You can drop in anytime between 10am and 4pm - bring what you are making at the moment too as it will be a good time to exchange craft ideas - I will also be swapping/selling small packets of buttons/fabrics/etc so if you have anything to add to the sale/swap table bring that too. Should be a good fun, informal day, for everyone interested in crafts (doesn't have to be sewing). I know that five people are interested in coming already so if you are going to come along too and join us then please leave a comment and I will email you directions etc.

Found a use for those buttons!

Spent another glorious day in the garden today, with Harry, boiling his brains in the midday sun. (at least I sat in the shade and had sunscreen on!).
